Conservation Trading Cards
While interning at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, I had the opportunity to do a personal portfolio project focused on conservation. I wanted to create an interactive activity for guests that would engage them in conservation efforts while providing a fun souvenir.
The cards were divided into four styles based on the corresponding areas of the zoo: Central Zoo, African Journey, Australian Adventure, and Asian Trek. Each trading card contains an image of the species and a range of information including their conservation status. My ideal implementation of the trading cards would include a certain number of trading cards distributed a day which would be determined by their conservation status. For example, species classified as “least concern” would have more cards distributed than species classified as “critically endangered.” The hope with these trading cards is to simulate endangered species in the wild while also raising awareness of conservation in a fun way.
